College Administrator/kaiwhakahaere for Foundation Learning and Health Bridging

I am a proud staff member of Otago Polytechnic and have been here for 18 years. In that time I have had multiple roles. My current role of Executive Director is exciting and I hope to get the opportunity to work with all staff across the institution to continue with our excellent outcomes for learners.
My initial qualification is in counselling and I have worked in this space for over twenty five years.
I mainly grew up in Dunedin and gained my tertiary education through Otago University (three quals) and Otago Polytechnic (two quals). My two boys have left home and one is doing his Masters at Victoria University and the other just finished his Bachelor of Social Services here. My wife works at Otago University and we both have a strong view of education being an opportunity to create change.

Glenys works as a facilitator of learning, an academic mentor, and assessor at Capable NZ. Glenys supports learners to articulate their skills, knowledge and attitudes gained from their work-based learning experiences, as well as undertaking new learning to gain a degree qualification through Capable NZ's independent learning pathways. She brings a diverse employment background to her career practice, with significant experience in teaching at secondary school, polytechnic and university level, as well as roles in senior management. Glenys also works in the field of elite sports, supporting athletes to think about "life during and after sport". She also teaches in the School of Social Services in the Career Practice stream. Her doctoral research is in adult learning and independent learning pathways and professional practice qualifications. However she continues to undertake research around transformational learning and facilitator effectiveness.

Rue-Jade Morgan (Jade) heralds from a coastal village called Te Rāpaki ō Te Raki Whakaputa (Rāpaki Marae) in Ōtautahi - Christchurch. Jade has an extensive background of delivering Physical Activity and Health & Wellbeing programmes to the community. Currently Jade is working as a Senior lecturer with Foundation Studies and has also created a cultural engagement programme for Ara Poutama Aotearoa - Department of Corrections New Zealand, which received national recognition with the Māui-tikitiki-ā-Taranga Award in the Arts Access in Corrections Category. Jade also helps across the polytech assisting both staff and students to learn more about Māori culture and associated cultural activities.

Michael joined the English Language Programme in 2015 and has since worked on three Summer Schools and several short courses as well as Level 2, 3 and 4. He has taught English for many years: at Nelson Polytechnic, in Christchurch, Switzerland and China . Before becoming a tutor he worked for the Department of Conservation and has also worked as a Guide on the Routeburn Track. He really enjoys getting to know students from different countries and trying to communicate the beauty and craziness of the English language. His hobbies include travel, tramping, cycling, kayaking and reading.
